Former Sanpete man dies after accident
Arthur Erastus Nielsen, 71, died Friday, Dec. 26, 1975 in Bannock Memorial Hospital Idaho, about three hours after he suffered injury in a car accident Mr. Nielsen and his wife were involved in a one-car accident on the old highway 30, three miles south of Inkom, Idaho. The car struck a tree at the side of the road at 5:15 pm. Both victims were taken, by ambulance, to the Hospital where Mr. Nielsen died, and his wife was in fair condition.
Mr. Nielsen was born Nov. 10, 1904 in Moroni, to Niels Erastus and Annie E. Christensen Nielsen. He spent his early life in Moroni and attended school there
On Nov. 10, 1924 he married Bernice Schureman of Shelley. Idaho. The couple lived in Shelley until until 1933 when they moved to Pocatello,
He worked with the Brennan Construction Company in MeGammon for several years. He retired in 1969, and in 1946 purchased a ranch on the Upper Rock Creek Rd. near MeGammon and raised cattle.
He was a member of the LDS Church; a chartermember and eldest member, in terms of service, in the Labors Internation Union No. 261.
Survivors include his widow, three sons: Richard Nielsen, Portland, Ore., Edward Arthur Nielsen, Pocatello; Ralph Blain, MeGammon; daughter, Mrs. Orland (Pat) Iverson, Pocatello; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight sisters; Mrs. Edith Johnson, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. Helen Siratford, Toppenish, Wash.; Mrs. Rozina Brewer, ML Pleasant; Mrs. Remelda Gib san, Tooele; Mrs. Verla Bohlen, Moroni; Mrs. Elaine Huggins, Fountain Green; Mra. Glenda Worthen, Ferron; Mrs. Bert (Flauris) Riley, Summers, Wash.; one brother, Clint Nielsen, Moroni.
Funeral services was held in Pocatelio with interment in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho.
