He was required to work while young to help the family income. He mourned the loss of two wives who left him with several young children. He married again. He and his third wife joined the Church in 1860 . He became a missionary in his area and labored for 16 months before immigrating to the Valley. They brought with them six children. On board ship a measles epidemic broke out, resulting in the death of two children. A third child died in Nebraska . Upon their arrival in Utah , they settled in Moroni in a dugout. There were so many Peters in Moroni that he became known as "Peter Dane." He was a farmer by trade and was considered well off. He also learned the art of making and firing brick. He financially helped many of the Danish saints immigrate to America . He worked on the St. George and Manti Temples. After living in Moroni 11 years, he married again. He was a great commedian and people loved having him around, especially at socials where he performed. He loved to sing and was the chorister of a Danish Choir. In 1888 , Rasmus and Sena and their children moved to Sanford, Colorado , where they stayed for seven years before returning to Moroni . He lived with his daughter after his wife died.
